The SafeDrink series from MENA-Water refers to compact systems that were originally developed to produce drinking water from surface water. All necessary system components are arranged within a standard container. The process combination of precipitation/flocculation, inclined clarifier, gravity sand filter and disinfection also offers the possibility of industrial use.
In this project there was a need to remove industrial dust and sludge from the storm water runoff of a power plant. The Hassyan Power Plant in Dubai was primary designed as a coal-fired power plant but now environmetal friendly running with natural gas, producing 2400 MW of electrical energy. MENA-Water has already received the contract to build an MBR compact sewage treatment plant to purify the wastewater from the office buildings and ships into irrigation water. In connection with this, a concept was also developed to treat rainwater runoff and especially excess water during storm events.
This concept involves the use of an equalization tank with an automatic slide mechanism and treatment of the water to be discharged in the SafeDrink settling plant in which the collected water is cleaned to get use in irrigation. Since more heavy rain events are expected in the future, the automatic float slide mechanism directs the excess water through an additional oil separator in the event of overload.
