The Vortex Grit Trap is used to screen and wash sand present in water.
Water flows into a concrete circular tank with a cone-shaped bottom where some rotating paddles move the sewage continuously.
The particular movement induced by the mechanical action of paddles cause a secondary transversal current meeting the main current of sewage, helps in accumulation of sand in the bottom side of cone. Sand accumulated in the cone bottom is sucked up by an hydro extracting pipe. The clarified water flows out from the exit situated in the top of tank.
